Welcome to Human Nature by Alyson Morgan. An intersectional sanctuary for shared human experience, unfiltered conversation, and cross pollination, grounded in the love of Earth and humankind. In these unraveling times, our roots must be woven together. I believe that a more equitable world is possible through the remaking of relationships. How can we shift from individualism to the collective care, from me to we?
Human Nature explores the possibilities and pathways found in every moment, inviting us to rekindle reciprocity and deepen our connection with Earth, the seasons, the cosmos, and each other. Through this journey, we strive to remember our true nature.
What sparks when we pause? What knowing is released when we slow down and embrace the interbeing of all things? When we are nourished, our inner nature expands and shines.
Here, writing, photography, and vulnerability serve as portals for remembering our sacred connection with the world around us. We are one.
Blending the practical and the spiritual realms, Human Nature draws on ancestral wisdom, the lessons of living in relationship with both human and more-than-human kind, and the awareness of how the celestial bodies move through our lives to cultivate wholeness. This expanded understanding deepens our capacity for empathy and connection.
Human Nature contemplates both the small and large questions of the cyclical nature of life, death, and being. Together, we seek to find meaning in our human experience. Can we embody more multidimensional selves through simple rituals and everyday rhythms, honoring our sacred medicine as we navigate the Anthropocene?

A Little More About Me
Welcome, I’m Alyson Morgan, a writer, photographer, mother, poet, gardener, and creative weaving together the many facets of my being through my deep love for Earth and humankind. As a child, I spent hours painting and drawing, fully immersed in the act of noticing, paying attention, and devoting myself to the natural world. Today, my photography is an expression of my profound reverence for the more-than-human world.
I cultivate deep relationships with plants through herbalism, seeking guidance and connection. Social justice and collective liberation are at the core of my heart and mind, and I am learning to weave these practices into my everyday life.
My partner and I are raising our two children in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin, on the unceded ancestral lands of the Sauk & Meskwaki, Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, and Ho-Chunk peoples. After spending two years designing and building our farmhouse nestled in the woods, we now live here with our kitten, two pups, and 16 chickens.
My Instagram, @alysonsimplygrows, offers a glimpse into how I integrate seasonal and slow folk living into my everyday life, using cosmic pathways to cultivate kinship with nature
My first book, Our Kindred Home, published with Rodale in March 2023, is an invitation to develop ecological awareness through daily practice. A collection of herbal recipes, seasonal rituals, plant monographs, and somatic practices to bring our actions into reciprocity with the natural world. In slowing down, we can connect to abundance, healing, joy & solace to navigate these chaotic times.
